Reminiscent

So after some random web surfing I stumbled upon an instructional blog for filmmaking that was created in the form of a Xanga, and it got me thinking……

What ever happened to Xanga? Did I ever have one? Do/did I know others with one?

So I did a little looking. Turns out TONS of people have or have had Xanga’s, and a good amount still actively update them. Xanga, which I thought had left society along with middle school, MySpace (for the most part) and AOL Instant Messenger is still alive and kicking; if a little unused.

Basically, here I am, looking at miniature blog posts from different parts of the lives I people I know or have known. Interesting to see how people change.

Also, on the note of change, the LossFest contest date has been moved forwards from what I previously thought, which means my group won’t be able to enter in time. This is a major setback in my forthcoming filmmaking efforts, as this project was shaping up to be a catalyst of drama garnering the talents of myself, Andrew, Evan, Brian and Neila.

We’ll obviously still keep working, but I feel awful for having set so many wheels in motion on the project without checking and double checking how tentative the entry dates were. "Subject to change" is a huge thing this time around, and I should’ve known that.

Either way, the project is still forthcoming and there have been some major developments with the script and characters. Evan and I discussed the ideas plot-wise, and Evan really came up with some great stuff. I had a meeting/lunch with Brian today about the Loss film and our progress with MSB, and we both agreed on drastic MSB changes but also to move forwards quickly and professionally on the Loss film.

For those not in the know, the Loss film features a protagonist who endures a paradigm shift in his identity when he is stripped of his mobility. It should be refreshing, because the ‘disabled lead’ is always a sub-genre I’ve wanted to explore, and Evan’s writing talents and Brian’s acting talents I think will prove to work well in tandem. That, of course, doesn’t mean I will be doing nothing, but it does mean that even without my own skills, it should be a substantially strong project.

More on this later, and Evan is still composing the script. Look out for bits of it in newer posts!
